Re: My Bandmate Died Last Night

My sister lives in my old hometown and the conversation usually starts off like that.
Had a friend I went to college with that found me on LinkedIn.
Conversation turned to health and she informs me...

Re: What Made You Want to Play Drums?

My best guess is he is lost in the correctional system or dead.
Public school is an odd institution in PA.
Most of these folks graduated despite having less than a 1.0 grade average.

Re: What Made You Want to Play Drums?

I remember thugs shaking down Colaiuta for money in the cafeteria.
One of the characters that sat behind me was straight out of Deliverance.
Of the folks that bullied me ,at least 3 were charged...

    Self preservation.
Went to a rough middle school filled with future felons and inbred knuckle draggers.
Being in the band meant you could hide out from the general population(prison yard) in the...

    Re: Dci?

Went to DCI West and it was like going through the TSA.
    Metal detectors and personal searches.
    Tons of excess security.
Joke was I saw a couple of guys hop the back fence.
    Didn't use to be like...

Re: My Bandmate Died Last Night

Hey,we're supposed to be living well into our 70's these days.
A lot of my old band mates didn't make it out of their early 50's/ 60's.
Lifestyle habits like it or not ,do take a toll.
    Say what...

Re: 20 vs 30 snare wires

Yes ,there was a slightly more defined bite on the 30's.
My concern would be is the snare bed wide enough to handle the 30's without an after rattle and the feel of a drum does change with more mass...

    Sticky: Re: Paiste Cymbals

Those 90's are supposed to be 2002 bronze.
Reminds me of the Meinl pure alloy which are quite a bit more expensive (but are great sounding cymbals).

Just bought a 900 22 inch heavy ride.
Great sounding for a mid tier cymbal.
Wish they would make a flat ride in this series.17804

    Re: Rocky mountain way ??

Joe is keeping straight time on guitar ,but the drummer is just doing some counter point rhythms.
    Not really a time change.

    Re: Parade Snare Drums

Probably the Mylar to kevlar heads transition was the biggest change (late 70's ,early 80's).
Then you had the parallel gut snare mechanism of the Ludwig 10 lug supersensitives to the 12 lug...

New Sabian AAX 21 inch Freq ride - $200
