    Trial and error.I go with the "I like it" method. I suppose you could make a digital profile of one you like and use that as a reference.

    Joe Morelo might have played Zildjians on Take Five but in the mid 60's Paiste had a 602 Joe Morelo signature series.

    I have an old timey Blackrolite, great for cross sticking. With the adjustable muffler you can get a lot of different sounds.
