    Re: I Love My Sabians!

I don't know what flavor of Sabian hats Frank Beard uses but on the live in Texas show I saw, they were amazing. I did as much research as I could but could not find out what the hats were. Glad you...

Re: Roland PDX-8 snare pad volume issue

That's awesome. Way to be resourceful. Might be good if you could let the company know. You may get an offer for a quality control position. Well, we can hope, right?
  4. Re: Anyone recommend a decent drum throne brand?

I have always been a fan of RocnSoc. I mostly use their hydraulic style base but the one that stands out as a solid threaded base is Gibraltar.

I'm mostly concerned with comfort and the RnS...

    Sticky: Re: Mapex Drums Discussion

Yes, you did. Looks like it works. You happy with it or is it too soon to tell?

I'm thinking about doing that to my DW Performance BD.

Re: Best way to gently clean cymbals

I use a dry soft towel to "elbow grease" the fingerprints off. Everything else is just normal wear and tear.
  13. Re: Anyone playing their snare drum without snare wires?

You may be hearing the snare recording with only a batter head mic. This will diminish the perception of the snare wires. JMHO.
  14. Re: Transporting drums to a gig in the back of a pick up truck

LOL, that was my setup with my BigR Rogers kit back in the 80's.

  18. Re: Transporting drums to a gig in the back of a pick up truck

Well according to information stored in the Burning Bush (LOL), it sounds like you had concert toms but only if they were factory with no reso side lugs. Those may not be nestable since most kits...

Re: Paiste PST-8 opinions / advice

I don't have a set but cymbals are very subjective and everyone hears things a bit different. I understand the "gongy" sound you describe. I tend to prefer more of a bright splashy sound to my...

  24. Re: Can anyone recommend some good all round tom heads

Depends on the overall sound you want but I believe you can't go wrong with coated two ply for batters and clear single ply for resos.

Re: Kick pedal technique....need some tips

You are correct. If you are uncomfortable, you will always be uncomfortable. If you have to go back to the basics, set up your throne, then bass drum then snare, then Hi-hats. If you can't get...
