    Re: 14X24 bass question

The bigger the head, the tighter it will need to be to get the responsiveness. The shallower depths like 14” help offset that, the same way shallow “fast” toms do. Some of it also has to do with the...

    Re: A Response

I’ve got a pair. I’d let them go for $550. I’ll also throw in a drum key and moongel and I’ll even give you free shipping. Just send me a money order and I’ll ship them out tomorrow!

    Re: World's worst drumming advice

I was actually surprised it sounded as good as it did. That’s kinda how I play....at the end of the fourth set and about 12 beers. I just kinda “drag” the sticks around the kit and hope for...

    Re: Yanny ot Laurel

The mind is a curious thing. My wife and I use one of those “sleep machines”. It plays your choice of sleep inducing sounds; a train running down the tracks, a rain storm, the ocean waves, crickets,...

Re: I feel bad for young, gullible drummers

Seems to me, if you need advice on how to “NOT” get fired from a job, you either (A) are better off not having a job, or (B) are destined to be scammed by someone.

Sticky: Re: So what drum related stuff did you do today?

We can definitely mic all the guitar amps and run everything through it. We’ll have plenty of inputs with the Yamaha board. Acoustic stuff works well plugging direct into the board, but electric...

Sticky: Re: So what drum related stuff did you do today?

    I guess this is drum related...in as far as it applies to my band;

Pulled the trigger on these two items today...

  9. Re: My kits I've used with my new band - Radioface

I love playing my new Ludwigs in a 12/14/22 configuration. I love the 12”/14” combo, but Honestly, I wish it was a 20” bass drum. The 22x18 is just larger than I prefer....and heavy. I’ve thought...
  10. Re: My kits I've used with my new band - Radioface

I’m with Ricardo; that blue fade Tama is absolutely stunning on stage. I would struggle with that kit. I prefer a 1up/1dwn for gigging, BUT, I would be so tempted to run the full kit just to get as...

I must live under a rock....
I have no clue what all this is about, LOL.
I do, however like the idea of buying drums. I also agree that what I hear my wife say and what she really means are...

    Re: Really Annoying Band Problem

I don’t even go there anymore. We have the talent to do way more than we do, but no one in my band, except for one guitar player who’s retired, has the time or motivation to woodshed (that includes...

    Re: Christian rock band

Good stuff. Guy’s vocals kinda remind me of Chris Stapleton. I could definitely get into that. You’ll have a blast!

    Re: Christian rock band

It’s funny how many people pay little to no attention to the lyrics in secular music. Half of them don’t even know all the words to classic rock songs they’ve heard 1000 times. Yet, people can...

    Re: It's warming up

Thanks guys. I’m excited about the May 26 and July 14 events. Both are large biker club rally events. Those typically open up multiple future opportunities and they pay well.

    Re: It's warming up

I have 4 scheduled so far.
    May 26th
    June 16th
    June 23rd
    July 14th

The next one on May 26 makes me nervous. It almost always rains on Memorial weekend. It’s a big regional meet for the American...

Re: Anybody Here Running Pinstripe Batters ?

I bet 80% of the drums I see on stage with local bands and all the used kits I see around hear all have clear Pins. Then again, most are kits from the 80s-90s with the deep “power toms” and the bands...

Re: Anybody Here Running Pinstripe Batters ?

Pick one drum...the hardest one to fit....and buy a new Evans clear G2. I think you’ll be happy. I have several old shells that are significantly out-of-round; probably way larger in the long...

  21. Re: my Bocote wood snare drum build Part 3... final with sound clip!

Well, the stain prep is not really a requirement. I think it mostly helps raise the grain and get an even color across the wood. You did clear, so not a big deal.
  22. Re: my Bocote wood snare drum build Part 3... final with sound clip!

Awesome. Not a huge fan of black nickel hardware.....but it looks fantastic on that medium dark wood. The wood grain really pops. Beautiful. And sounds good to. Nice job!!

    Finished it just in...

    Re: Speed 'Demon' Cobra

Those magic Erasers are awesome. I too have used them on cymbals. Just a little water and they’ll clean anything.
  25. Re: Interesting post on a musicians page on social media

We tried that already. As soon as I took my shirt off the crowd left. Also, I found out that the hi-hats can be dangerous. Serious “pinch point”.

Seriously though, our old rythum player was a good...
