Are you learning "rhymes" or "rhythms"?

Rhymes would be "Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, I like my drums and my drums like me too."

Rhythms are... boom chaclaca boom chacalaca boom chacalca boom

Ok, enough of this nonsense. To answer your question...

You'll find tons of drum lessons and everything you need media wise at this site. You'll also be supporting this forum by buying from that site.

There are also links to thousands of free resources at Drumming.com. It links to free drum tips sites, rudiment sites and more.

Finally, don't forget YouTube. There are literally thousands of video lessons there.

I've heard really good things about the Tomas Cruz books, can't vouch for it personally, but lots of people have raved about them.

    Oh ranger...I forgot.

Yes, I will let you know how the drums look and sound when I pick them up Friday. I will take some better photos and post them. The bongo addition will also be nice. Thanks for your interest.

I have been really happy with "Conga Joy" by Bill Matthews. It has tons of great rhythms and variations from all over. He has a dvd video and cd versions of the pieces as well.

I have the Tomas Cruz Conga Method volumes 1 and 2 and I couldn't be more pleased. They are by far the best that I've seen as far as books go. Vol. 1 will keep you busy for a long time and have you sounding good in no time if you practice. I hope you enjoy your course.
