    Default best heads for recording?

this is a question ive been thinking about asking for awhile- what do you guys prefer to use for head setups when you record/mic your kit? what are the advantages of what your using for miking versus the same setup for different uses and application? are you a 2 ply or a 1 ply kind of person? share experiences with different types of heads you have used in live sound/recording situations

Yea I might be doing that. I am a 16 year old without a job (too much on my plate as it is!) so I don't have much cash at ALL. I am looking to record with one or two USB mics, recording on something like Audacity on my Lenovo 3000 laptop (which is crap! I wish I had my Dell Inspirion 9300... stupid motherboard frying out.... )

    Anyone have any suggestions?

most of what I hear is open for live, and use moon gels and rings for recording and then you don;t have to change heads or retune.

I used clear amb over clear amb for recording. They gave me the most open sound. Pinstripes were great for a more closed in punch, with some extra depth. All depends on what you are after.
