    Drum Tips

    1. always accent crash with kick
    2. NEVER lose the one
    3. practice with metronome
    4. slow and accurate before speed
    5. practice rudiments across whole kit after getting them down on the snare

ok I'm a noob, and these are a few of the tips I have picked up so far. I'm thinkin it would be cool to compile a list of 10-25 top of the list kinda tips that will be well worth the time to explore.

    Or not, your call.

A drummer not only sets the time of a song but also influences the feel of a song as well by laying slightly behind or ahead of the beat etc.

BTD, I do that all the time - naturally. The problem is that I never know, from moment to moment, which feel I'll create!

Playing multiple genres will increase your appreciation for music, your drumming ability, and will help you create your own style.

Here's my tip, from my Tinnitus thread.

#1, protect your ears, trust me on this. Unless of course you enjoy the sound of a high pitched ring in your ears 24/7. I was one of those, it wont happen to me guys, well, it happened to me. I have to sleep with the tv on just to distract me from concentrating on the ringing.

Keep your drumsticks low, close to the drum. You can hit plenty hard even that way, and you will be able to play much faster.

Never end your practice session on a bad note. If you aren't getting something, play something that you struggled with and finally conquered that will remind you that you will eventually get it. You can always come back to it later. I've found that if I'm not getting it and I try to force it, it just makes things worse.

Remember that although practicing on a pad or just snare is important, don't neglect the rest of your kit. Make time for just pad or snare and time for your whole kit.

Sorry for the double post but,
Remember that rudiments can be played with the feet as well as the hands.
