I traded a snare for a cymbal, three pairs of sticks, and one drumhead. Peace and goodwill.

I’ve ordered an 18” Sabian Xs20 Chinese cymbal. It’ll be the first I’ve ever owned a China cymbal.

Oops, I take that back. I have a 12” Wuhan.

I've got a china cymbal story. When I was a kid, I took lessons from this guy who was much older and experienced. I would go out and hear his band now and then and he had the sweetest china I'd ever heard. I asked him if he wanted to sell it but he wasn't interested. Maybe 15 years later or so, I asked him again and he sold it to me! I still have it to this day. It's a Zildjian China, 18". The thing is massive and loud! But rich in tone.
It’s nice to have a childhood memory of those things and how they can show up later.
I went to my brothers house one time and they were having a bbq on Thanksgiving. His wife’s family were showing up too which I’d never met yet. She has two sisters. I met the one sisters husband and he was my childhood drum teacher! What are the odds!
Small world as they say. He was still teaching at home and we shared drum stories etc…He had passed away since but I’ll always remember him. R.I.P. Jeff King.
Those are wonderful stories Olimpass and Drummer. Thank you for sharing them.
Sign number 2 of my time to quit buying cymbals. How my Chinese cymbal looked when arrived. Looks like someone had that thing clamped down tight while they bashed on it..lol.
No biggie. Received full refund. All good.

Wow, how misleading. I would be pissed if that cymbal arrived liked that. Glad you were able to get refunded.
Yes, thank you Tom. I was upset when it arrived but just called them and brought cymbal to store and had no issue for refund. I did kind of…
When I received my electronic receipt, it said some other 18” cymbal. A medium thin crash I’d purchased earlier had been returned.Had to call them back and they fixed the issue with the correct 18” ‘China’ cymbal being returned.
I’ve found that if you keep your cool, you have better relations with the sellers and them also with you. It was all friendly and resolved professionally.![]()

Pulled the trigger on a used 24” Sabian AA Apollo ride.
Did you know that AA stands for “automatic anvil” introduced in 1982.

How could it be American Artisan when there’s no Sabian plant in America? I guess considering the Zildjian history of cymbal making could be the reference of American Artisan?
I’ve found this that I used my info from.

All of my cymbals are pre-owned. Getting them off of the "interweb"can be a crap shoot though.

That’s a truism slanddad. It sure can be depending on where you shop.
I won’t mention where, but some of the shipping prices are unreal. You think you’re getting a deal but then you catch there’s a $50+ shipping charge ! You’d think it’d be shipped in a wooden crate along with a deep dish pizza! Oh no, it was shipped in a stepped on, crushed lame box and after opening, the cymbal was popped inside out on top of it! Well, that was one incident. One is bound to run into issues when ordering online as many cymbals as I have.

All I can say is it’s best to buy from a reputable place that’ll except returns and if damaged, get full refund of shipping and taxes also.
More used Sabian APX

These APX are made of stamped B8 sheet metal and supposed to cut through anything hard rock or heavy metal.

Latest used Sabian purchase. It’s a 20”. Don’t know what it is or called. It’s a bit high pitched, a little heavy and loud. What would you call it?
