I use 2002's (16 & 18 crash) but picked up this morning a vintage formula 602 18 in medium crash ride. Very nice indeed. My hats are custom a projections and I recently smashed 2 22in custom k dark rides lol.

I am back with my old faithful 20in alpha that has served me well as it was my very first cymbal purchase back when i was 16!!

Are the PST's made our of B8 alloy, like Sabian B8's?

And are Paiste 201's above or below the quality of PST 5?

    Thanks

Yes, I think all Paistes are B8 except for the Signature and Twenty series.

And no, the PST 5's are supposed to be higher in quality than the 201's. I'm not 100% sure but I think it's sort of like ZBT vs. Planet Z or B8 vs. Solar, etc.

Just picked up a set of Signature Dark Energy cymbals. I traded and/or sold all of my other cymbals to do it, but so far I'm happy with them. I'll post a review and some pics once I get a chance to play them a bit more.

Ive been thinking on investing in some Signature crashes, I was checking sound samples on the Paiste website and I fell in love with the sound of the 2002 wild crashes. Theres plenty of used Signatures on ebay, but never a 2002 wild crash (I assume because they are fairly new). Have any of you played them/use them. Id like to hear what you think.

    OK Stealth... 3 questions...

    1) How did you select RUDE vs Sig vs 2002 vs Twenty for each one?
    2) What's up with "Wild" cymbals? Can you tell me how they differ from a "Fast" or "Full" or even "Power"?
    3) Did you sell your first born to get that collection??? Saaa-weet!

I will do my best to answer.
    1) This is an easy one..a local distributor was clearing out old inventory. I went down to the wharehouse and pulled cymbals of the shelf that were on the "blow out" sheet and listened. Most of the decision was based on what they had on the shelf.

    2) The "wild" cymbals have more of an aggressive / complex overtone and a slightly longer decay. Other than that they are very similar to the old Zildjian Z's. Paiste.com has very accurate sound files of their cymbals. Check it out and listen to the wild vs. others in the 2002 and rude series.

3)I think most of them I got 25-40% less than dealer cost due to the blow out of inventory.

I'm thinking about buying some paiste alphas (16 and 18 crash). I mostly play rock (alice in chains, the darkness, stp, etc.) good fit?

I would use the 16 and 18 rock crash. They are heavy and loud. Should be a good fit.
