Whatever happened to the 2000 and 3000 series? I had the 2000 which I didn't think were that good, but the 3000 series were popular with the hard rock players.
thats a killer cymbal set-up stealth

From what I gather, RUDE is their top-of-the-line cybal thats designed for loud playing. Not the top overall, but they are up there, above Alphas
Rudes are unlathed cymbals, so this makes them very dry. The ride articulation is more defined, and they are veeery loud. They need to be hit hard to open up, even the thin crashes.
Buy what sounds good to you, but I suggest you buy Alphas. They are brighter and also much cheaper than Rudes. I suggest that you do buy Rude hats and a Rude ride. From what I understand punk had alot of fast ride and hi hat playing so you dont want alot of overtones.
So Id say Rudes Hats and Ride, Alpha crashes and effects(China, splash, ect).

PST3s. Anyone out there have them? Thinking of buying 13" hats and two 20" rides (whereupon I'd have some rivets put in - 4 for the right hand side and three for the left). I know they're not going to be great sounding but I'd settle for good.
i think that the pst3s sound good i have them and they sound good. My friend has zbt's and the pst3s sound a lot better
thanks for the help on the rudes i think ill follow the advice and get apha crashes, china and splash with rude hats and ride now need to get the money :D

I started on PST3's. They are good for the price. I think they sound best compared to other brands in that level.

Hey kids!
Where do i get the application form to be a member of the Paiste Posse??
I just went totally nuts on ebay this week, and i'm waiting for my "new" signatures to come in the mail! i'm so excited i might... wait... yep, i peed my pants.
here's what i picked up:
17" Full Crash
19" Full Crash
21" Dry Heavy Ride
14" Dark Crisp Hats
I'll have to push my new roof back another six months now, but i mean really, ya gotta have priorities right?
I'll get some pics up as soon as i get em all set up!
Sound's like a killer set-up! How do you like the odd-numbered size crashes?
I've been always a 16' 18' inch kind of guy but I'm really curious about the 17' and 19'

PST5 china is really great despite being a relatively lower-end level.

Hey guys! I've been a Paiste user for 17 years and have found that the new Twenty series are awesome. Just switched off of 2002 (which are great also) to the 20 series. Great tone and control. A bit more brittle than the 2002. Must be the CuSn20 alloy compared to the CuSn8. Still a wonderful sound. Does Paiste make a bad cymbal for those who like that "more raw and cutting sound"?........ My guess is NO. Even the Rock Alphas are great.

late8 - so jealous of that 24" rude ride...
I really want one but its way out of my budget.
Currently I'm using a 20" 2oo2 but I'm thinking of getting a 22" PST5 cause the 20" doesn't have the tone i want.
I have a PST5 10" splash and it sounds awesome accenting blast beats.
My HiHats, 18" crash and 16" crash are all brass 101s and I'm happy with them except I will prolly upgrade the hihhats to bronze alloys.
I know that they are the cheapest but I actually choose the 16" 101 over the 16" PST5 'cause I liked the sound better as it was faster and lighter.
so there you go.. for once the cheaper option was the better one for me.
I think the PST3 series is all brass. The bronze alloys seems to have more tonal charecter and reonance - but as I said above - sometimes the brass sound may be what you are after.
Paiste have a pretty wicked sound room on their website where you can hear samples of their entire range. I've noticed the PST3 ring out for less time than the PST5. Sometimes the really 'lively' cymbals saturate too much in my opinion.
