For metal, the sand ride probably isn't the best ride.

You could try Derek Roddy's Serpent Ride, which apparently is also extremely versatile, but is great for metal.

I have a meinl HCS series crash, I'm pretty sure its a 16", and I'm thinking about getting a meinl ride cymbal because I'm stuck with a pretty crappy cymbal that came with my drumset when I first bought it still. Any recommendations? I'm thinking about sticking with the HCS series, but I'm not sure if there's a better one. Also, a china would be next on my list, and I've been looking at my local drum shop for a good one.

I like the sound of the mcs 20 ride cymbal and there are a few chinas I like but I would go to the drum store and see what you like. I also like the classics series.

Guys, I want Meinl cymbals, but don't know what line to pick from

    I dabble in
    . Indie
    . Pop
    . Drum and Bass
    . Classic rock
. Occansionaly! a bit of Jazz

So I just want the most well rounded cymbal, they also have to be a step up from my ZBT's so yeah, which line would you reccomend looking at out of these? I dont want them to be too Loud either, they can be loud just not stupidly loud like the APX's I hear.

    . Classics
    . MB8
    . MB10
    . Soundcaster (custom)

Cheers guys. Or any other manufacturers lines you would reccomend looking at.
    Cheers.

Hey everyone, i just picked up a set of 18" and 16" Medium Byzance Brilliant Crashs and a 10" Splash. They are some of the best sounding cymbals i have ever heard.

Just got my Meinl Amun 17" crash and I really like it. It fits in nicely, and can be used for a variety of music.
