We've had complaints from the neighbours where we practice for being to loud, one of the guitarist has suggested getting a cheap eletric kit and putting everything through the pa then through to headphones, 2 guitars, bass, drums and vocals..will this work or not??? Please help.

It would sound odd to anyone not wearing headphones, but yeah that should work fine.

Don't change anything, but turn the amps to 11.

If you're playing late at night or something, then find another time to play. If you're playing at a reasonable hour then maybe look into some sound proofing or noise reduction for the room. Don't go buy new gear that you don't really want.

I look at it this way: if your band is playing, you're at work. You don't walk into your neighbor's office and complain to them, so they shouldn't interrupt your work and complain to you.

It depend on what you give them. If it is a certain finger that might make them more ticked.

But yeah I got the same problem.

Don't go dump money into sound proofing. Instead get a Ruger or two and they wont bother you.

It is so Amazing how Frank Zappa can be used to welcome new neighbors! Do you remember which Zappa you played??? I think I would play Lumpy Gravy.

I remember a while back that there were two bands that used the same place to practice. One band always got the police called on them because they just practiced too dang loud. The other band never had that problem, IN THE SAME PLACE. So, yeah, it might be possible just to turn down and everyone will be happy.

I think both bands eventually had to find other places to practice because of the actions of one band. . .

talk to the neighbors about it, work out a deal. like we can practice from this time to this time, or something like that.

Just work it out with the neighbors, perhaps it is the hour you are playing. Most neighbors are pretty cool if you let them know the days and times you play etc. Hope it works out.
