Remo for me - Pins on the toms, Powerstoke on the kick, coated amabasador on the snare.

I wonder if after 20 odd years with Remo a change might be fun!

I've got Aquarian, Evans AND Remo on my kit.

Aquarian Classic Clear or my snare reso
Remo Ambassador for my snare batter
Remo Pinstripes for my tom batters
Evans ECs for my tom resos
Remo Powerstroke 3 for kick batter
    Evans Emad for kick reso.

    I like all of 'em.

I've been using Remos in the past but I've been introduced to the Evans heads by my drum shop guy and I've made the switch. On the Pearl kit I got Evans hydraulics/Evans G1s. On my Ludwig set I'm still using Remo's Suede (sp?)/Ebony Ambassodors.

I am a Porsche guy myself. Could be because I used to live in Stuttgart. But I also love the way they look. Also, Porsche engineers are second to none. Take for example, the 928. Takes 6 weeks to make one, and all tolerances are to within 10/16,000ths of an inch. That's pretty precise.

And what's NOT to love about this baby!

Dont' get me wrong, Prosches are wonderfully engineered vehicles, never said they weren't, but they are also common as teeth when compared to other "super cars". I dont' see many Ferraris or Lamborghinis driving around, but I lose count of the number of 911's and Boxsters I see. I barely notice them any more, other than they look like fancy VW's (j/k).

All kidding aside though, I'd take a Lambo over any of them any day of the week. About the only car that would get me all twisted about my decision would be a Buggatti.

i prefer evans, i used to use remo, iv tried clear pinestripes, and coated emperor suave for toms, coated PS3, CS, emperor X, and ambassador for snare, and a clear and coated PS3 for the bass drum, but this weekend i got a coated G2 snare head, clear G2 tom heads, and a clear GMAD for the bass drum, my drums sound so much better and i stilll havent even gotten a chance to completly tune them, iv done some tuning, but i only got the 14" floor tom complty tuned, once i tune the rest of my drums, my set will sound amazing, i also like the feel of the Evans G2s much better than the emperors and pinestripes, i was going to get EC2 SSTs and the EMAD 2 but they didnt have any at the drum store so i just went with the G2s and the GMAD, and im really happy with the heads, i would also like to get some G1s for reso heads on my toms to replace my stock resos

like most drum equpment, there isnt really a best choice, its all personal preference, lots of drummers play different types of music and are looking for different sounds from their drums, just like with cymbals some prefer paiste and some prefer zildjian, but neither company is better

Funny...the couple or so times I have ever had problems with a head defect...been Evans. Perhaps coincidence.
