    Default Alesis DM5 Question..............................

hey guys. ive had an alesis dm5 kit for 3 months or so and just yesterday i tried to play and the hi-hat was almost inaudible?

checked the volume on the voice, its was at 99%. not a problem.

switch the head out, still inaudible.

switched the cord coming out of the hi-hat to a cymbal slot on the brain. worked fine. so its not the head apparatus.

the footswitch for the hi-hat worked fine as well? i thought ill just plug it into another slot on the brain and change the setting to hi-hat. well i couldn't figure out how to get the footswitch to engage/disengage while on another slot in the brain?

    so 2 questions:

    WTF?

    &

can i use another slot on the brain (ie cymbals) and still have use of the footswitch?

any help/stories would be greatly appreciated!

It could possibly be a bad trigger. I think the next thing you should try if you haven't already, is replace the high hat trigger with one that you know is working. If that doesn't fix, possible bad cable? Hmmm, interesting, I don't think it would be the brain. That seems too weird.

when i say "head" what i should have said was trigger. the actual rubber cymbal-like apparatus works when plugged into other slots in the brain!?

    Welcome to Drum Chat Veale001!

If your e-kit is 3 months new, I would take it right back where you bought it while it is still under warranty. Let them sort out the problem, or make the neccessary arrangements to fix it, or replace it.

If this is a used e-kit, then it would do you well to track down the problem.
