Try tabbing out the beat in question.

Then use a metronome to slow the bpm its normally played at to half-time.

Play slowly first, and then build up the speed. If you post the song title, I might be able to help you out.

Yeah. This song is played at ~220bpm. So set your metronome to 110bpm to practise.

I've never heard anyone call it a "one-beat", I think the proper term for this beat is a "Blast beat". Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Basically the snares land on all the "e's" and "a's" and the bass lands on "1+2+3+4+".

The basic beat is as follows:

    Ct:1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 e + a
    HH|x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---|
    SD|--o---o---o---o---o---o---o---o-|
    BD|o---oo--o---oo--o---oo--o---oo--|

Not quite sure whether he plays 16ths on the hats or just 8ths.

Like I said, slow it down, use your metronome and start slowly.

Pretty soon you'll have it down.

    Hope this helps,

I meant that I don't know whether or not he is playing 16ths on the hi-hats or just 8th notes like I've written. I couldn't hear over the top of it.

I listened to the song and HB58 is right. except the song is played in 2/4 time.
    which is...2s
    hh---x---x---x---x|
    sn-------o-------o|
    bd---o-------oo---|

    The pattern is
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 1 and 2...etc. the "and" is the snare.

So HB58 has it right...you might have to figure out the bass beat for yourself.
    hope this helps.

Thanks for backing me up 13.

It'll be the fills that will cause you the most trouble.

okay, iv got another one for you, hellsbells58, 13drummer or whoever, can you listen to this music video by blink 182. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OscA1nQ5qTw
and im just asking can anyone of you play as fast as he is without cutting the time in half? i can do it mabye till 40 seconds into the video but then i start falling behind and my arm gets swore, and im using my wrist mostly! so im just wondering if its a hard song to play all the way through or i just need some pratice on my stanima while playing.

heres the drum tabs for it if you wondering

I think you just need to take the advice written on your signature. I mean, I can't just pick up the song instantly.

But with a little time I reckon I could do it. It's just endurance and speed that you need for this song. Nothing is overly technical about it, just simple fast, punk.

To answer your question, I don't think it would be overly difficult if you spent some time learning the tab or playing through the song.

    Hope you get there.

hey Hellsbells.. lol im gonna bring this rock show song back up for a sec again, i think this is a obvious question but, how to i practice endurance? do i just play the song over and over gradually speeding up the tempo each time i get used to the speed?

Well, the song is your pretty standard Punk Rock beat, with some really easy 16th note fills.

Rock show is like this (Tempo is between 190-200bpm):

    CC|X---------------|----------------|X---------------|----------------|
    HH|--x-x-x-x-x-x-x-|x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-|--x-x-x-x-x-x-x-|x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-|
    SD|----o-------o---|----o-o-----o---|----o-------o---|----o-o---------|
    FT|----------------|----------------|----------------|------------oooo|
    BD|o-------o-o-----|o-o-----o-o-----|o-------o-o-----|o-o-----o-o-----|

So basically, slow it down to a tempo where you feel comfortable and really nut out how to play the riff.

Practice with a metronome, and start slowly!

Once you have the riff down perfectly, practice it non-stop for 4-5 minutes. If you don't go out of time, you are ready to step the tempo up 10-15 bpm.

Repeat that process until you have that riff up to speed. Once you can play it at full speed for 4-5 minutes, you'll have built up your endurance

That's the way I usually do it anyhow.

    Hope that helps,
