I change mine when the cymbal no longer sits evenly. The way I check it is I spin the cymbal 360 degrees and if I see a wobble, I change the felt.
Good tip Late8! Thanks to all of you!
You're welcome Pearldrummer18
I never change them. Don't see the need to. Maybe if there was chunks missing or something.
Matt
change mine when i lose one
I've never changed a felt unless I lost 1.
Er...well....I'm ashamed to admit I don't even have any felts at the moment....er better go buy some..cos like they are important..

How often do I change cymbal felt? I guess I'll let you know when I do, and I wouldn't count on that anytime soon.

i dont change one unles it gets torn up and you can hear the cymbal hitting the stand
The only way to catch a butterfly is never waiting for the wings.
I put all new felt on my cymbals a couple of days ago. Looks like i'm good to go for another 10 or 20 yrs! Thanks!
No wear and tear but I like to have my cymbals sitting level so when I crash, the sticks hits the cymbal at a consistant dynamic level all of the time. I notice if a felt has gone soft on one side and the cymbal is slanted, the wash is different due to the angle of the felt vs movement below the cymbal cup.
I can't say i've ever had to change my felts...
