I got my new heads!!!

I replaced my Evans with a Remo Pro Pack. For those who don't know, it's pinstripes 12 13 16 and a 14 snare powerstroke. I know Phrogge will be disappointed in seeing this. Here's the story.

I go into Guitar Center having Aquarian Perf II coated 12 13 16 and a 14 snare Response II. I ask them for it. It seems that their stock on Aquarians is low and it doesn't include either head. So I go around knowing that I've already used Evans and the only other brand they sell is Remo. So I go for the Pro Pack and get some moongel along with and surprisingly end up with a little more cash

Congratulations CB, hope you enjoy your remo heads. And Mark, the ec2's are great. They are similar to a g2 but control the overtones better, they are a little pricey, but you should enjoy them.

LOL!! But in all honesty, I love my G2s over G1s on the Pearls, but on the DWs the Remo Emps over Ambs sound pretty killer too.

I have my stock G2' clears over G1 clears on my Gretsch Renown African Mahogany and I can't imagine a better sound. I put an Aquarian New Orleans Speacial on the Gretsch and Pearl snares and they are very nice, but I don't think they are any better (just different) than the G1 coated that was on my Gretsch snare.

Concrete: Remo heads are excellent - they make some quality stuff and been doing it for a long time. Let use know how they work for you.

I have been through just about every head you can imagine and I just recently found a really nice combination that some of you may be interested in.

I used Evans G-PLUS coated on the tops and bottoms of my toms. The G-PLUS heads are a single ply head that is 12mils thick. That is in between a normal single ply and a double ply. For me this combo is the best of both worlds. The toms have a very round, warm sound with just the right amount of overtones and great sustain. Again for me it's just the best of both worlds.

It may not be for everyone but for some of you it may just be the sound you have been looking for. Oh, by the way I have these on my PDP maple CX's. John

I used to be a pinstripe guy, but now I use the emps over the ambassadors on my Gretch and they sound sweet.

I use pinstripes too - and sometimes soundcontrol (black dot) heads on my Roto Toms and they sound great.

lol.. I've already started a group with gretsch.. the terrorous tenors. I don't think I'm gonna start anymore groups for awhile.
