Default Wood Hoops on your Drums?

Any of you have wood hoops? Can you tell the difference in sound compared to metal hoops?

I have wood hoops on my bass. I can't really notice too much of a difference, but they do seem to make the drum resonate more naturaly.

Only bass drums here. I really can not see that there is difference between wood and metal since the hoop/rim only supplies tension to the head. I can see that the Tom and Snare hoops/rims are metal in that it is a durability reason since they are struck a lot. For the bass drum, I feel that are made from wood for a cost and weight point. If they where metal, they cost over $100 each and weigh 20 pounds or so.

I dont like the wood rims on the snares. I dont know how they could take the abuse. Look at your drum sticks. You have to replace them. Does that mean you have to replace your rim everyonce in a while? That cant be cheap.

I recently upgraded to wooden hoops on both my bass and snare, thatsound difference is amazing!

also my rim shots have a really nice tone to them now

Oh and btw, i have never had to replace a single pair of sticks, ever, and so far my rims have taken no damage.
As a concert percussionist tho, ive learned to pull the sound from the drum without hitting hard. Only time i replaced my skins so far is when i had just bought the kit and didnt like the onles it came with
