Personally, I prefer that anyway, because I can choose the things that I want.

What set are you going with? If you are getting a new one in the mid pricing range, please say Catalina Maples... :-D. By the way, don't count out any ddrum dominion sets. I played on one the other day and LOVED it... They aren't the same ddrum with poor bearing edges anymore.
Tama Starclassic Birch in Emerald Sea Fade 24x18, 13x10, 18x16
Mapex Black Panther Phosphor Bronze 5.5x14
Remo Coated Emperors (or Evans Clear EC2s) over Remo Coated Ambassadors
Remo Coated Ambassador Over Hazy Diplomat Snare Side
Dream Contact 14" Hi-Hats, Zildjian Avedis 21" Sweet Ride, Zildjian A Custom 18" Projection Crash, Wuhan 18" China
    Vic Firth 5As and 5Bs/Sound Percussion 5Bs and 2Bs

Well, i think i will go for a Catalina club Jazz OR the Cat maple.

However i wouls say i am probably swaying towards the jazz. For me i think that the Maple just looks a bit too big for me. I love little 4 piece kits and i think the jazz would be perfect for me. I have'nt seen a ddrum dominion, i shall have to look !

    Thanks

Don't forget the Pro M/Meridian in the 4 piece config. (Think it's called Manhattan config or something).

Alex...the Catalina Jazz kit is going to limit your playing to that of small group jazz. The sizes of the drums, their weight and density is geared to more accoustic soft volume. The Catalina maples will give you more bang for the buck and work nicely for a more general approach to playing a wide variety of musical styles.
There's a lot to be said for Time Honored tradition and value.
