Goo Gone my brother. It is a citurs based solvent that wont hurt your heads. It works great.
So I have some Gibraltar impact pads that I put on my bass drum for protection for my double-kicks. Well they peeled off and left these big sticky blotches where they used to be. Tried to clean the skin with ammonia, didn't work.
Any suggestions?

a little bit of thinners will work .....
buy another impact pad and it over the sticky stuff!

I'd go with the Goo Gone. Like Greenmonster said, it works great, and would a Greenmonster steer you wrong?

Goof off is a good choice too. It's the same as goo gone.

I'll try the goo gone, would just putting another impact pad on the sticky mess make it fall off faster? They already only took about two weeks to fall off.

From my experience soap and water seemed to work for me

Try a little laquer thinner on a rag. It will take it right off and not hurt the head at all. I should qualify that with this disclaimer. Do not use laquer thinner on a coated head only on a clear (uncoated) head. It will take off the coating.
I just shoved my other two impact pads overtop on the sticky stuff, when they fall off I'll try that. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Now I know, all the info I had was from the case my drum skin came in. "Use only household cleaners with ammonia" but that didn't work at all.
