    Default Double-kick impact pads

Long story short, my old skin broke because of my double-kicks, so I bought gibraltar impact pads for my new skin, and they lasted about two weeks. They just fell off and left a sticky mess on my bass drum skin... Soo....

1st off: Do I even need these type of heavy duty pads? They change the sound dramatically, dampen it a lot. They sound really good though.

2nd off: Should I use the two gibraltars I have left, or just get some lighter Evans pads, they did the job before I had a double-kick.

they all weork well. better than none.
i tried the gibralter things....they fell off mine too. crap.
eveans, remo and aquarian make great impact patches. the kevlar i think might last the longest. went through the aquarian once. after a long time. should have replaced the head before that but didnt really care. hehe
i think the clear evans have the least change in sound.

Aquarian makes a thin double pad. It doesn't last as long as kevlar though...

The thing is that I don't have a place in town where I can pick some up, closest drum shop is a 3 hour drive away. Should I just try the Gibraltars again until I can pick up some replacements or is there a better temporary quick fix I could use until then?

Yeah, I've been looking at some evans double kick pads and they seem to be the best value. I already put my other two gibraltars on, we'll see how long they last, hopefully long enough to get some evans.

These are the pads after 1 double-kick sesh. These aren't gonna last the week.

Well I guess I'm gonna have to get some evans. Is there something I can do in the meantime if these fall off? Will tape help at all?

try using contact cement to put them back on, it sounds like the glue they use is no good. I have actually in a bind made my own, I cut a patch out of an old head and used contact cement to secure it. It was on a kit I was using to host a jam night once a week. It never came off and I never had a problem with the head. It also sounded great.

you could try removingthe existing glue off with goo gone. then try using spray adheasive to apply the kick patches. just make sure to spray both contacts and let them get tacky before applying the pad to the head.

i have a aquarian patch, kelvar i think, never heard of a ptach sliding off through, before that one i had a remo single, it was a pain to tear off, thought it was stuck there for good, so if you go with aquarian or remo patches, you should be good

I've never seen anyone buy anything other than the Remo pads, and I love these pads. I tried the Gibby pad once... fell off. I put Evans heads on my Tama kit before I sold it and used their pads, which are merely adding another ply of drum head material, and I wasn't too impressed. I haven't used the Aquarian one because it looked too thin to me. Haven't used a Danmar one either.
