HC... Frank is a bit old school (sorry Frank) and sometimes things come out abrupt. I didn't like the way that was stated either and I don't agree with it.
The important thing is, he means no harm (we all know him well). Trust me when I tell you that he's a great guy. He's not the local jerk that everyone hates. He wouldn't still be here if that was the case. The challenge in this forum (and every forum) is to be tolerant of everyone's little personality idiosyncrasies. It's the only way to keep everything cool on a regular basis.

    Thx!

So now, Frank... you wanna debate that stupid comment! LOL (I'm just teasin' ya man )

discard the word rudiment and say patterns instead. Seems less formidable. JMHO

And rule 1 don't worry about speed, worry about timing and consistency
    Great advice.
A good drummer will sound good on anything(even stock drum heads). A bad drummer will sound bad on anything.

i think you should focus on 1-1 2-2 3-3 4-4 paradiddle in all forms and basic flam based rudiments first. at least thats what my teacher gave me to practice every day since i started taking lessons with him
i think if u practice this youll be in a good place to later learn the more advanced (and less useful '_') ones

even though 3-3 and 4-4 are not really rudiments i think they strengthen your chops tremendously
