I've never tried the Evans or Remo heads (yet), but the Aquarian Superkick II that I am using is very punchy, like a cannon. For me, I'm only using minimal muffling inside the drum (2 Tshirts). It just doesn't need it. Reso head is a factory Tama with what looks like a studio ring on the inside.

    Evans EMAD.

I've had it for a while now and I can honestly say it is the best kick drum head I've ever used, I get a real powerful, in your chest kind of bass drum with the EMAD. Or if you want something a bit thicker go for the EMAD2.

If you want more of a note ,less dead thud,go a single ply.2 plys like Remo Powerstroke, Evans Emad,Aquarian Super Kick II..Thinner head(single ply) with more pillow=low note sound, thicker head(2 ply) with more pillow=thud.Muffle up at least a little your kicks reso head and don't tune too tight, this can cause too much note resonance, make sure you're letting enough air escape, this will give you more of a deeper boom,

How about a Danmar Metal kick pad?

"Designed by Vito DeVito, it combines a high-grade aluminum alloy playing surface with a thin, self-adhesive rubber backing to provide maximum durability and head protection while creating a distinctive bass drum sound with greater articulation and power."

That might give you a clicky noise.

OK, not counting anything recorded or mic'd and eq'd, because that will change everything...

The best sounding "natural" bass drum I have ever heard in person was an EMAD on a Gretsch Renown Maple in a GC store. OMG, it was insane. Great attack, very punchy, no sustained note, I fell in love with it right then and there.
