These are just... lovely(well, any Slingerland is a lovely kit but come on). You have fine fine taste in drums, i'll bet they sound awesome in person.

have you tried the 12 x 22? must be quite a defined punch, or 'note' , as there is only 12" of depth.
if i were retired or hadn't to work, i would restore drums. its just a neat thing to learn about.

    Thanks, Russ!

I bought them new from Long & McQuade Music in Toronto, Ontario, when I was 15 years old.. I didn't really know what I had until much later and yes, they sound awesome (IMHO). So do the 13" hats, 18" crash and 22" ride stamped "Avedis Zildjian Genuine Turkish Cymbal Made In U.S.A." purchased at the same time. Color me proud!

I did a gig a couple of years ago on an 18-wheeler trailer converted to a stage with built-in electrical supply, artist change room, etc. The soundman who came with the rig commented that he didn't see many Slingerland kits but they are a joy for him to mic and set up on his board (that looked big enough to handle any major artist stadium gig).

Thanks again for your "lovely" comment!

    Cheers!

    Hi, m8's!

My friend picked up a kit recently that has this interesting set of serials. Notice anything?

    255115

Looks like a kit from the mid-60's got mixed with some add-ons from the mid-late-70's. My friend is the 3rd owner. His seller didn't know when they were re-wrapped or what the original finishes were. They're now wrapped in formica flooring (!?!) for scratch-proof protection.

With new Remo Ambassador coated's and a good tuning, they sound thunderous! The snare just sings, makes me smile to play and hear it.

    Enjoy! Cheers!

    Hi, Pearl MCX Man!

You are most welcome, my friend. Here's a couple more pic's of that Slingy goodness:

    [IMG][/IMG]

My friend actually got the tubs and drum stands (no cymbals or cymbal stands) for $575 CAN. Seems like quite a deal. I think the next thing I'll share with him is my bottle of Mother's chrome polish, lol! I told him to do the chrome when he had the hoops off to change the heads but he was too excited to hear them. Must have had the Slingy virus, lol!

    Cheers, m8!

I always loved the Pearl finishes on some of the older vintage kits. That slingy looks pretty in the sunlight.

It's 70-72 vintage. New Rock Kit with the optional 22" bass. Appears to be in good, original condition and all there. Yellowed, white pearl, SN around 113xxx. Found em in a Sam Ash. Someone traded em in.
Well, the muffler is missing from the snare. It was there, but broken. Available?

greg c- Love the Mini Clubman as much as your kit! Great cars.
    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

The MINI Clubman turns out to be a great car for lugging my gear. I play guitar in a classic rock band and carry my guitar/amp gear in there easily as well. You can see how the drums easily fit.

This will probably make some of you guys cringe. I posted an earlier incarnation of this kit a while back. I picked up the bass drum with one wooden hoop and a Rogers resonant head mounted. In added an Aquarian Super Kick II on the batter side, added some modern spurs and picked up a pair of Zildjian K's (18 medium crash and 20 custom ride). This is a super fun kit, and is just loud enough to keep up with some pretty loud bands un mic'd

My only suggestion would be to put some pieces of thick cardboard or foam material between those babies so they don't bump together during transport. Beautiful set!

Once the back seeat folds down it's pretty roomy. There's a nice bit if room under the floor too, especially if you run 'run-flat' tires and forego the spare.

Torn down, cleaned, and set up to play. Took me longer than I originally thought but worth the effort...
