YES!!! the 14" Zbt's are what i'm getting on monday or tuesday. they've got great sound too. Go to the Zildjian website and you can look at certain cymbals and see what they sound like.

    No, dont get ZBT's

Those are the worst hats zildjian makes, and they can get dented semi-easy

Go with the high zildjian sheets like the ZHT's or get a set of casts

If you are already sold on Zildjian, depending on your cash situation, I would suggest the higher lines....As, or A Customs, Ks, etc....I have (and still use, as my secondary hats) a set of 14" Zildjian A New beats that I bought in 1989.
Word to the wise : don't mess with the drummer.

If you want a really cheap set of hats, and dont worry about destroying them,
    then go with the ZBT's

If you want a good pair of cymbals, that wont break your bank, the ZHT's would be for you

But if you dont mind price, then pick up the higher line zildjian, like Z customs, A customs, A zildjian, K custom and K zildjian

It also depends on what type of music you play, the K zildjians are jazz cymbals, the Z customs are good hard rock, the K custom and A custom are good rock, and the A zildjians can just about be used for anything

I have been blown away with my A Custom Soundmasters- (they have the scalloped bottom) they are pricey but incredible. I have only heard one set that compared and they were Paiste (also scalloped) but didn't get the model.

I had been playing for many many years with cheaper hi hats and now I regret my economies!

    Hope theis helps!

PapaG---I have the Paiste Soundedge Hihats you are talking about and I could'nt agree with you more. Both the Paiste Soundedge and the Zildjian Mastersound are just plain awesome. Nothing else I've found compares to how crisp and responsive they are. The only difference between my Paistes' and the Zildjians is that mine cost about $150 less!

DrumBum....Ther Paiste cymbals I heard were in fact more expensive than the Zildjians. Go figure. After hearing the Paistes one day and then thinking about them $$$$ for a few days (and there was nothing like them) I went back to get them and they were sold. I then found the Soundmasters and they were very similar but a little cheaper. If my ear is accurate, the Paistes that I heard were even a littlle better. As you say though the difference was small and they are both way beyond anything else out there. I have never heard anything close. Good luck with yours!
