So heres another thing of ch33zz debating with himself
    Just take your time please
    Arg, here goes

Im going to try and get some ZHT cymbals, and i was wanting some rock cymbals, so ive been looking around musicians friend

Theres a 4 Set rock for only 290 bucks

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ck?sku=445491X

and that seemed like a sold deal, but then i looked aroudn some more, and found a Pro set-up, 340 bucks, but it comes with a free china, what to do?

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ina?sku=445954

Well, i just saw that the pro pack comes with a free stand, sooo yea, it would only be like 470 for the pro

I totaled it, its about 470 bucks for the pro set up, with stands, but only like 400 for the rock (took off one stand)

Which would be a better investment? are chinas that worth it?

But at guitarcenter the rock set costs teh same as the pro set, which means, i guess im going with teh pro set?

First, let me cop to being a symbol snob. Having said that, I just haven't heard any inexpensive china's that don't sound horrible. I know it's totally subjective, and some folks may really like that kind of sound, but to me cheap china's sound like something off a Wal-Mart set. If I never have to hear my son's old ZBT china (it's stored in the attic somewhere) it'll be too soon. My ears hurt just thinking about it.

blemished means somebody ordered it and there was wrong with it (scratched, smeared logo, or something along those lines) and somebody sent it back

Let me also cop to being far from expert on this. The only Wuhan's I've ever really looked at were in the $5 bin at G.C. last Christmas. They were too crappy to pay $5 for.

    Seriously, Wuhan are great.

I've got 2 expensive Chinas (Zildjian K, Sabian Carmine Appice signature) and 1 Wuhan - and I ALWAYS use the Wuhan.

Bass players always hate China cymbals because they have to stand next to them and cop the volume explosion.

Well, so, what then? the rock cymbals, or the pro set up?

I mean the pro set-up does come with a free 60 dollar stand from musicians friend, but its pro cymbals, would thye sound good on a rock set up?3

I think you should play that china as much as possible ... so that the rest of the players in the band can have ample opportunity to come to grips with the sound.

well thats because those cymbals are really FAR from "pro" quality.
and to contradict what RD said i really like my 18" sabian xs20 it is accually a nice soft sounding china when others are sometimes just TOO loud and trashy.
other than that i hate the zht, zbt, b8, b8 pro, xs20 ect. most stamped out budget cymbals sound really bad.

Eh, well your talking to a kid on a budget, once i get about 16 and get a REAL job, then ill think about putting on some A customs or Z customs

But i mean, the ZHT dont sound TOO bad, i know their far from good, and far from pro, but their not teh WORST cymbals on the market

not tryin to make ya feel bad, they will do fine for awhile but you will find yourself wanting to replace them once you get out gigging on a regular basis. and they are for sure better than the beginner cymbals of yesteryear. you are lucky to be too young to remember the zildjian schimitar series, zbt in comparison to schimitars are pure gold

    Cool Hmmmm...

Get the best you can afford...the pro set, quotes or no quotes, would be the better choice for the long run.

China cymbals are cool if you want a "trash" sound, but I wouldn't use it for every single song, every single time. I'd use it if I wanted to cut through during a fill...
keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!

ah, well, so ive seen, well, i think i might end up going against the crowd, and going with the rock cymbals, ONLY because im a hard hitter, and im pretty sure i would dent the heck out of that medium thin crash, i mean, im not like john bohnam hard, but im a pretty hard hitter, like, suprisingly ive been keeping my splash dent free, its pretty wavy, but you get me

So i think i might end up buying a normal rock kit, not blemished, and tehn getting a Wuhan if i really need a china, which i doubt i will (need a china)

    yes get wuhan

there cheap and good quality so if u do want a china (which u inevitably will, just like a double bass peadl) you can easily get one without breaking the bank on a sabian paiste or zildjian
