I saw this on eBay and couldn't resist. It's a 1949 Gretsch Renown Parade Drum. It was around $35 new in 49 and for $2.50 you could order Pearl Inlay on the hoops! I was born in ahhhh.....1949......man those years went by in a hurry - haha.

Guess I'll have to think about joining a marching band - I have two of these Vintage drums now

Looks pretty good, will you restore it further? If you do, post a record here so we can see how it comes along.

I was just drooling over that pic and was checking out the lugs.

Cool Re: Just bought this gem on eBay - birthday drum

Ahh, nice to know that I'm three years younger than you, kona! (Wonder if there's some '52-vintage Gon Bops out there?) That's a great-lookin' drum, man--and marchin' with that Gretsch in a parade is one awesome way to celebrate that milestone!

    Cheers, bro'!
keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!

    THANKS EVERYONE !

Yes zzzdanz, it is a single tension drum. It hasn't arrived yet (eta Aug 25 via USP) but it looks like it the one in the catalog here. Look at the Prices!! I laughed when I saw the Pearl Inlay prices on the Broadcaster.......$2.50 and $15.00 - man those prices bring back memories of when I could walk into a "Soda Shop" and order a coke for 6c and 8c to leave with the bottle. Ya drummer - I guess I am an "old fart."

That's awesome man!..Imagine a 16" snare for $50!?!...6c soda, bro your aging yourself, haha. The time it takes to ship up there must suck.Nothing worse than waiting. Will be worth it thou once you have it in hand.

    That's the 12" drum.
It's not too bad for shipping wait unless something happens at THE BOARDER.
