    Question ***Playing Bare Feet***

    Hi everyone,
I heard that it`s bad to play bare feet a while ago. I forgot where but it`s not bad right?
I was just just getting kinda worried because I practice bare footed all the time.
    How do you guys practice?

If it doesn't hurt your feet while or after doing it then it shouldn't cause any long term issues.

I wouldn't think you could get enough volume playing your bare feet, and the stick marks!!! Oh. you meant playing WITH bare feet.

    Cool Re: ***Playing Bare Feet***

If you're cool with playing barefoot, great. Seems to me you'd have problems with sweaty feet, including their sliding off the pedals, not to mention bruising or cutting your feet when and if they slip off.

Some drummers use soft-soled shoes to get the feel they want on the pedals without risking injuries...try that and see, man...
keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!

I once cut my foot from using the slide technique barefoot. The etched "IRON COBRA" on my pedal is nasty! It was nothing big though.

I wouldnt get to used to it. Most clubs wont allow you in barefeet and the rest you wouldnt want to be barefoot.

I've done thousands of gigs and played everyone barefoot. Why would they care if I was barefoot on stage?..Of course I wouldn't want to walk around most of them but on stage is no big deal.

Because many clubs serve food and its a health violation, even on stage.

I prefer to play drums with my boots ON.

I dunno why, it just seems a lot more comfortable. Mum says I can't drum with my boots on, but I can play faster wearing them. Haha.

I'm always barefoot when I play... except for in the past when I had to be in some kind of uniform... I've only had two issues: one is that I bruised my heels because of how I play the bass pedals but after that healed I never had another issue. The second is that my feet did slip when I got sweaty while playing my Axis pedals, but skateboard deck tape solved that problem, and it was free!

I play barefoot most of the time. It just gives me more feel. And it doesnt slide like it would if I played with socks.

I used to play with shoes on, but a while ago I just got too lazy to put my shoes on before I started drumming, and I just played barefoot. Now I'm used to it and I do it all the time. I can play with shoes or barefoot...I just can't play with only socks on lol.

I don't play barefoot - though occasionally have practiced barefoot. But when I play I like to use very soft shoes. I also saw a guy a few months ago playing a gig in a pub in slippers! Though not smoking a pipe at the same time

Actually I prefer to play barefoot, lets me feel the pedals better than I can with shoes on. My advice for clubs, bring shoes and wear them, then when you sit down to play, kick them off! Or try converse all stars, they are almost as good as barefoot in my opinion.
