we've been exchanging emails for a year. but he takes a month to reply them, which is bad business, so i dunno.
im wondering if i made a mistake. i just threw down 150 for a much needed 8x7 tom/single tom holder for my kit in a color i cant find anywhere anymore, from a guy id been talking to for a year on ebay, he has a perfect feedback rating(100) but the only thing that sorta bugs me is there was no pictures. described it good enough, but was it a dumb move?

I think you should be fine. A month for a response though... that's a little strange.
Russ, if it's an eBay deal, and you used PayPal, you're probably OK, because you have some protection if the deal goes bad. I would agree that pics would have been better, but then if someone really wants to scam you, they can get pics from anywhere and post them. I would say that a lot depends on how you felt about this seller when he did respond to your emails. If he was responding in a straightforward manner, I think you're OK. I would say that eBay is definitely a place where you have to be careful, so don't think that your concerns are not justified. There are many sellers that are good ones, though, so let's hope that's the case here.

Russ, as PB said if you used pay pal then you may be protected..i am having a bad experience at the moment from some guy on ebay that uses the words drum and doctor in his name..its been 3 weeks since i paid for my cymbal and he is full of broken promises on delivery...now according to pay pal i have to jump though hoops and converse with this guy when all i want is a refund...we will see what happens next..good luck bro, i know how hard it is getting rare items..

Russ, how it ends will determine if you made a mistake.
But personally I wouldn't do business with anyone that takes a month to reply to an email. I am very fussy about who I buy from on eBay, but I must be doing something right because I haven't been burned yet.
And I second the motion of using PayPal on Ebay. It just pays to protect yourself any way you can.
Hope it works out for you - let us know.

Russ, it would be tough to tell for sure. Only time will tell. I've had dealings on eBay that I had second thoughts about, but everything went fine. If it goes bad, it will do that whether you stew about it, or not, and if it goes well, you will have gotten upset for nothing. As difficult as it might be, take a deep breath and see how it goes.

"i saved it for you" = i was unable to sell it
whether it was thru lack of effort or lack of buyers, who knows?
think about it, if you're trying to sell... the first one with the cash gets it. you don't save it for anybody. you just say that to whoever is buying so they get a warm fuzzy.
all that said... you'll only know if it was a bad deal when you get it. i don't think the slow replies are a bad thing. there could be many reasons for that. but why no pictures? let us know how it works out.
