Lightbulb DC Record for Most Users Online

Since I have started to contact users directly to get their thoughts on this thread...I felt like it was time to edit this first post!

The goal? to break the record

Most users ever online was 364, 06-27-2007 at 12:09 PM.

WHEN is this all happening!? well...it depends on the number of people. So the guide would be, after the LIST hits 365!

So...when it does! I would let Tom (aka drummer) know, and he would send out an email to ALL DC users. The email would be sent a MONTH before the date. And whenever the date would be...it would DEFINITELY be on a SUNDAY/SATURDAY (depending on your timezone)

    AND TIME?

US - Pacific: 10 PM (Saturday)
    Sydney: 4 PM (Sunday)
    London: 6 AM (Sunday)

    * Not sure if that's still the correct time conversion! (i.e. Sydney is on DST now)

And the RAD thing about this record breaking journey is....YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE ACTIVELY BROWSING/WRITING ON THE FORUM (i.e. if you want a snooze when it's all going to happen...you can tick 'remember me' before you log-in)

WANT IN? Contact me directly...or POST! So I can add your name to the LIST

    Keen on seeing this through,
    Leigh

    HERE IS THE ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

I noticed that Drum Chat also keeps track of things like: "Most Users Online"

and so far the record has been 364

It has been held since 06-27-2007 at 10:09 AM

So...what do you think of having a go at breaking the record?

    I mean...with 6,242 members....I'm figuring it wouldn't be impossible. I'm thinking maybe aiming for 400 online users?

    Talking Timezone anyone?

    I'm on the GMT + 10 Timezone

But I'm thinking...out of the 6,000+ users...Timezone shouldn't be an issue to break the current record!

But...I'll give it a go shall I? Hopefully We'll have something.

    I propose 7 PM or 5 AM.

Hopefully that is close enough for the majority of the users 'convenient time'

Bongo, DD! (uhh, bingo!) 6 pm PDT is 9 pm EDT; it's a good time for our American Drumchatters, but for our mates in the U. K., you're talkin' 2 or 3 a.m. UTC (Greenwhich Mean Time, aka Universal Coordinated Time). For our mates in Australia and New Zealand, it's usually early to mid-morning the next day. This is being typed at 3:20 pm CDT at my computer, and it should be somewhere around 7:20 or 8:20 am Tuesday in that part of the world. So, bro's, we may not be able to get everyone from each time zone, it a go for me in the early to mid-evening!

    GO FOR IT, BRO'S!!!

    Talking When!? When!????

How about making two times? (one for the other half...)

Or...probably something during the weekend? (early Sunday)

    Here's are some options:

    1.) 2 PM (GMT + 10) - Sydney Time

    - Would be about 9 PM Pacific Time (i.e. Washington)
    - and in London would be 5 AM (GMT+1)

    2.) Sydney - 5 AM (13 September)

    - 3 PM (New York) - 12 September
    - 8 PM (London) - 12 September

What do you guys think? It's probably just working out who would be willing to wake up early on a Saturday!

    Drawing (virtual) straws perhaps?

And as for getting the word out...one option that would get significant exposure is a note/link to this thread on your signature. But if anyone would be keen enough to create an official banner for the 'Record Breaking'....why not!

Thanks everyone! Just keep those suggestions coming!

But the trouble is, we don't have enough "active" members to pull this off. We need to rally up all those people who have like 3 posts and get them to come on too.

    Unhappy The List

    Yohin...good point!

How about a master list? Maybe that way we could keep track of the number of active users...then just aim on rallying the right number of users to break the record.

Someone to volunteer bandwidth from their site so there could be a downloadable copy of the master list, and only the site owner (or someone else) to update the list so there are no doubles...and numbers could be kept track of.

I'm sure there is a quicker way to do this! A link for people to type in their username...and a note on time/location. (just a bit like petitions where instead of email addresses...it's DC usernames)

    * List Updated 05 January 2013

    * A good thing about Posting in DC, is that you can edit your posts (from what I know...with no limit on editing)...so I'll keep editing and updating until we reach a number of active users (and some grumpy inactive ones)

At least then only one list would be kept and updated. And I can keep a word copy to cross-check to prevent any double ups, when the list gets longer...(and it will!)

    So?....Thoughts?

I like the nine o clock pacific time idea, that seems like the most reasonable idea for times as far as everyone is concerned, maybe ahave people check in at the shoutbox lol but add me to that list dude! I will be here as long as it isn't during school hours :-P

a couple questions: the drumchat server does something strange every night at 9:00. sometimes i cant get here for about 30 mins. does anyone else have this problem??? or is it just me?

will it cause any problems to the site server if a much larger crowd came than what came last time?

other than that, i think this could go down successfully, we should have enough new and old members to get this to work.

Yeah I have this problem too. Drummer said the server does something every night at 12 midnight eastern time.

I forgot about that. Maybe we can do it at 10:00 pacific time? Then the guys in the UK could do it at 6 AM instead of 5 AM, which would be a little easier for them.
