I'm almost embarassed to ask this, but I can't think of the darn name for that really common jazz beat with cross-sticking where you alternate a cross-stick snare hit then a tom, and it goes between the high tom and floor tom, so it's like; snare high snare floor snare high snare floor. Am I crazy? Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

If you intertwine a bass drum then you could call it triplets.

Naw, actually come to think of it I think there might be two hits on each tom and the high hat is going as well. It's pretty common.

Cole, it sounds like a variation of one of the jazz latin beats. You'll probably need to post a video or sound clip of one so we can help you with a name or description.

Ha! Drumonit, we posted practically at the same time. Yea, probably is a mambo or a variation thereof. Hey, welcome to the forum!

Is it that beat that's in the Memphis Drum Shop videos all the time?

I may know which beat you're talking about, but I don't know the name of it.
