Default Need help with Kick drum?

I need help and have a few questions about how to get my kick drum to sound right. First of all I listen to metal and play metal but I don't like the sound of my kick drum. I want to get a punchy sound, I want it to sound something like Chris Adler's kick drums but I don't know how to get that punchy sound. I like the sound of his but most of the heavy metal bands today have that type of sound. Right now I have a Power Stroke 3 for the batter head and the stock front head but I'm going to eventually replace the batter head with Super Kick II.

So my questions are how to get the sound I want?
What does a hole in the front head do?
Does my kick pedal effect the sound because I have the stock pedal that came with the kit, which I will replace?

Your batter head is fine. For That punchy metal sound, port your reso and put a blanket or pillow in the kick. Thats what Adler does.

use hard instead of felt beaters if you want heaps of attack and more "click"
also putting stick on patches on your batter head where the beaters contact...

Use a plastic beater, some muffling and one of those bass drum patches and you'll be good to go.
