The only two constants I have are DW and Zildjian.
Huh, second time I was asked that. I think the photo angle may be misleading.
Not weird at all. I don't hit mics because I used to rehearse and practiced with them on for a long time in the past. That's a pretty standard position for me to use for my snare mic in general if I can get a sound guy to put it there.
What makes it look like its in the way if you don't mind me asking?

Called an Off-Set pedal. It indeed does work exactly like a Sleishman in that it centers the kick and snare to mimic the original double bass set-up with one bass drum. Biggest difference is the use of shaft drive over more direct drive of the Sleishman. The shafts are rock solid with no "play" after three years of very regular use. The Off-Set pedal is sold by the engineer who designed it. Saw this pedal advertised in the back of DRUM magazine and went to the website. Bought it sight/unseen with no regrets. It is a highly adjustable pedal with smooth action and an awesome ergonomic advantage. I love it.
They are priced right about the same as a Sleishman. Once you have your kit set up for this pedal, you'll never want to go back. The relationship of toms to snare and positioning of the ride are altered for the better with this pedal. Thanks for asking.

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

I saw that pedal advertised last month, think it was rhythm mag.

I got coaxed into bringing a 4 tom setup to one of the jams I host. So I decided since I was bringing out a bunch of toms I might as well go all out on everything. Brought double 20s (although one's just a dummy, doh!).

I'm a little new to drumming terms- what is a dummy kick?

Wow. thanks for that. Had a feeling it sort of worked like a Sleishman, except what's really cool about the Off-Set's design is that it seems to be way less bulky (probably could pack easily into a conventional double pedal bag, unlike the Sleishman's design). Might be something worthwhile trying.

No to totally hijack this thread, but...
The Off-Set pedal does indeed pack up quite nicely. I have simply kept the box it came in and cart it around in that. I am not a regularly gigging drummer, so that suits me just fine. I believe the guy at Off-Set offers a bag very reasonably. But I could be wrong.
