For many years I've played a traditional 5 piece with 2 toms on the bass drum. This latest acquisition has a 24" bass and to get the toms as flat as I like it made them too high for my vertically challenged height. After seeing the many different configurations posted here I finally tried putting the toms on a stand. Being an old dog I thought it would take a long time to retrain my brain and was pleasantly surprised at how quick this got comfortable and feels natural. I'm changing all my kits to this variation, thanks for all the pictures to inspire the change!
Looks great!

Hey jeff love your kit, dont get me wrong but the look your looking for comes more from fusion sized toms, what you could do though is setup with only one top tom and a floor on each side, once you get used to it its actually quite fun to play with this setup hope this helps

So, I've mocked up my double kick drum setup again. Now I've got cable hi hats in the center above the rack toms, however.
The iron cobras pictured are not my main pedals, but were used because I left my demon drives with my electric kit at the jam space. Today I've converted them to lefty pedals, and they'll be used on the 24" kick on the left when it's done (that's right, 2 double pedals on one kit). Now I just need to get off my lazy butt and stain and drill these drums...
The only two constants I have are DW and Zildjian.

I never think to take an overhead shot at a gig and I have had low ceilins at my last three practice spaces, but this should be close enough.
Here is my 1973 Slingerlands with DW hardware, Zildjian Ks, and my 1958 Radio King single ply snare.

Here are my 2008 DWs in broken glass finish. The main snare is a Super Solid, the secondary snare is an Edge. Thcymbals are a mix of Ks, K Customs and a set of Constantnople hats.

nice deedubs Mike and nice colection of ks
It's a 5" x 8". A drum shop ordered it for a customer, there was a language barrier. When it came in it wasn't what he was looking for. I came in and saw it, thought that it was cool and they sold it to me pretty close to cost.
It's very cool actually when I have my kit set up in the "maximum" layout.
Although this thread is about behind the kit shots, here is what it looks like from the front.
And here is a different overhead shot. (This time with 2002's.)

Man, I always enjoy the bird's-eye view of your kit Rich! You're like me - you like seeing those cymbals shine. Your solution for the metronome is certainly different. What made you take it off the mount and duct tape it to a throne? Also, what's the other piece that's duct taped there?
