Great set ups. I like looking at kits from this view.

I so want to rock out on that

Man, these driver's view shots are great - probably my favorite shots. It's always fun to see how others have configured their kit. Looking good guys!

No, no, no! Each kit pictured has its own unique take on setup with nuances around position, instrument choice, tuning, etc. Whilst there are general principals that ensure a rounded setup there are no real rules and we must not get trapped into thinking one is better than another and this forum is better than that.
Besides, we need the 'rule' breakers such as Daru Jones:

I feel like that roto tom would be in the way of my leg.
But I move a lot... I also stand and play and good around
Yes, it's a lot closer than I like it to be but I like to experiment with different set ups. I get bored really fast if I don't switch things up a bit.
Here's the spacing I rather have between my right leg and whatever is next to it.
I typically have the 16" roto tucked behind the 12x14"
We run two mics on the kick when I record with my bandmates so squeezing in the second mic on the batter can get a little tricky if I don't leave enough space for it.
At home, I'll run a 57 underneath the 16" roto and aim it at the bottom of the 12x14" to get some bleed off of the reso.
