When I first seen the Signature Heritage Series I had to have them until I watched the video and thought that they sounded kinda ringy although this may not be the best way to hear them. The Signature Grand Series are kinda nice.

I've always found Tycoon stuff to be very well made. I havn't owned any of it, but I've played on the congas and bongos and timbales and they are all comparable to any of the other big names, as Cuco mentioned they are basically the same drums with different hardware. Those cuban style ones that Giadan posted are very attractive, the bellies look a bit fatter than the Pearls and Gios, probably have a nice low end to them.
I was at Cal Percussion today and tried all the congas, Gon Bops california series, Meinls, Lp, even the all the Tycoons. Everything sounded somewhat the same except Tycoon Signature Heritage Series, thick, thick, thick white no see thru heads on them! I'm talking 1/8 I haven't seen heads like these since the 70's. The sound is definitely not for everyone because it's the old warm dry sound with absolutely no ring. They sounded different than all the other congas in the store but I know yesterdays sound is not widely excepted by today's pro's but I liked it! The look.... Big thick 3/8 lugs with nickle finish with fake bands to give it the old Cuban drum look. The price... Arm, Leg and gallbladder. I'll wait for some to come around used before I evan think of buying some.
