I was just wondering if You could help me get the snare sound I want. I admit I'm a newbie when it comes to mixing drums. I have a few examples:
* Four Year Strong - She's So High [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU_SjRXSqJA"]YouTube - Four year strong - She's so high[/ame] * Paramore - Let The Flames Begin [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnO7ska5fWA"]YouTube - Paramore - Let the Flames Begin lyrics[/ame] * A Day To Remember - Have Faith In Me [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YSkdpqJQlc"]YouTube - A Day To Remember - Have Faith In Me (with lyrics)[/ame] * Set Your Goals - Summer Jam [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnelDfZhbbc&feature=PlayList&p=B70134AE3C8 B2E82&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=15"]YouTube - Set Your Goals - Summer Jam (NEW ALBUM THIS WILL BE THE DEATH OF US)[/ame]
I know that it might take a lot of time and be a pain in the arse but if you have some time to spare then please help me. Play around with the EQ's, gate, reverbs etc. I'd appreciate if you'd let me know if it is possible to get at least one of these snare sounds out of this one:
If possible then please let me know exactly how: the EQ's, gate (when opens/closes), reverb etc. If not then be so kind and tell me how can I get a great snare sound (out of this one) for that type of music. (gate, EQ etc)
Thank you so much for responding/helping!
PS! If you need the whole kit then let me know. I'll try to upload them somewhere. By the way, I use Nuendo to mix drums, if you have any other good mixing program the let me know.
I couldn't tell you much about the EQ-ing and all that, but we have the same taste in snare sound. I tune my bottom head low and my top head lower, and put the snare wires pretty loose.
all pretty standard sounds, can be achieved with any drum....i think all but the last clip were wood (birch?) snares.
the gates are wide open on the snares on all except the last, the rest of the toms are fairly closed. There is no gate at all on paramore from what i can tell.
as fair as EQs go, eq to the drum...if its high and ringy, add mids, low and flat- tune up and add highs
by the opening lines of each song it sound like you are wanting more of a marching drum sound....each band had a 14x6.6 or bigger snare...
