id like to see the kit, do you have a picture of it?
I am new to recording and thinking about purchasing mics for my 5 piece kit. i recently saw a kit that had the mics mounted on the inside of the drum shell itself as compared to traditional mounting on the rim. what im woundering is if there is any significant difference to the sound frequencies the mic picks up or any pros/cons to this method?

vinny paul does this as well but says you cant put small ones in, like in the picture because of the small mic head, too much sound going on, too small of a head they'll "clip" everytime...go with the big Beta's normally used for kick drums.
just try this though....dont cut a 1 inch hole for the XLR cable to go through...instead cut the end off your mic cable, put that through a little hole, maybe quarter inch, then re-solder the end back on and plug into a microphone, otherwise you have a huge vent that takes away alot of sound.
also try to keep from drilling a mic mount if you can, look up the "kelley SHU", im sure you can make one...the idea is simple but genius...you use washers connected to bungee cords and use the lug screws to hold your microphones...an entire mic-ing system with no new holes....
howd you get it through a vent hole, man thats crazy like a ship in a bottle
