I stick my tongue out a bit sometimes. Other times I look like I'm in pain. Not like wincing pain, just like I am really hitting the drums hard (which I normally am...). That and I'm bouncing a lot when I play haha.

People say I have a stern look or mad or something. I have known drummers that make noises when they play. Like grunts or hummmm. Mick Fleetwood makes noises when he plays.

I do this too and I have always considered it as a shamanic thing, You are one with your instrument, the rhythm is your heart and you are alert but relaxed - like a samurai!

I don't know for sure, but sometimes I catch myself bobbing my head. I'm not headbanging, it's more like the guys from that "Night at the Roxbury" SNL skit I'm sure I make some interesting faces also

I sometimes screw my face up when Im playing real hard. I tend to bobble my head when playing disco beats too.

I usually am sweating a lot so I just look tired as all heck. Like late8, my mouth is usually wide open when I play. I used to headbang sometimes when I had long hair and now it's basically a bobbing head that keeps time for me. I don't need a metronome, I have my head.
So itchie, how did the kick sound?

Hope you take some aspirin with you in the drum bag! Those headaches that follow are no joke, after awhile you can get dizzy enough to fall down. Well, that's what happened to me anyway.

Do you have the CD player nearby, get the CD out and blow the dust off it too? j/k matey, lol.

As for me, I tend to be a tiny bit zoned out. However, when I was playing in a covers band around the 90's, the bassist, a mate of mine called Gazz (Gary kinda resembles Keith Moon with thinning hair....same eyebrows, same kinda look about him.....and the same manic stare when playing....just as a bassist though) ....Gazz would do anything to crack me up when playing......pulling faces, headbanging whilst sticking his tongue out whilst grooving like a mother.....pure ball of energy......then he'd leap back to the microphone to sing the next song. Any wonder why he'd have two fresh shirts with him backstage in between sets, he'd burn that much energy.....I was in awe of him sometimes....having a bassist like that just drives you more as a drummer.
