Default Good, but affordable double bass pedal?

I'm not able to spend a buttload at the moment. Just paid off my drumset in full!!!

Too excited. Also, got my m-audio fast track ultra 8r and pro tools 8 m-powered. (Bought it, pastor bob. )

So now all I'm really looking for a good, affordable double bass pedal.

    Suggestions?

Whats considered good is subjective. Some people may think Axis Longboards are the best pedals ever, and other might really dislike them.

    What's your budget?

Lonnie, give us an idea of an "affordable" price range, since that might be different to difference people. That can help us zero in some suggestions that can help you.

Ive had a few double bass pedals,

    Tama Iron Cobra

    DW 5000

    Pearl Demon Drive

I wasnt a large fan of the Iron Cobras, they felt unstable to me. I love my DW's... I still have them as a matter of fact, but during fast double bass rolls.. they tend to feel heavy.

My favorites to date are my Pearl Demon Drives... simply, they stunt all over Axis's face. They are very very fast, the have power... infinitely adjustable and GORGEOUS!

    so, depending on budget...

    I recommend DW 5000's....

    Or....

If youve got the bucks.. the Demon Drives IMO cannot be beat.

Oh man, I thought I replied to this already? LOL. Guess my internet didn't send it through.

Man, if I had the cash for Demon Pedals I'd cry myself to sleep with tears of happiness.

    May range is $125-$200.

    Thanks guys!

I'm starting to see that only maybe 2-3 pedals even fall in that range. LOL

Maybe I should save up a bit more. Let's say $200-$350 range? I'll work towards putting some more money back.

Has anyone used the GIBRALTAR 5611DB Prowler? Retail is $275 but I'm seeing them as cheap as $135 now.

In that price range i would consider either the Taye PSK $199.99 or DW 7002PT $239.00 JMO. I currently use the DW 7002 and have been happy with it. The only thing i don't like about it is that it has a rather short foot board. It makes doing heel-toe a challenge but still a nice set of pedals for the price.

DW 4000 or DW 5000, both really good. Or if you wanna throw down more you could go for the DW 9000.

    Hi Lonney,

I recently got back into drumming...I have ended up with all Gibraltar hardware including their double bass pedal..

I purchased this from musicians friend on sale for 240ish dollars..No one else can touch the price and quality...The pedal is called intruder direct drive...It reminds me of the Ghost pedal of my youth...I never owned a ghost but played a freinds..

The gibraltar direct drive is fully adjustable, reasonanble pricing and very robust...That company did not shortcut the engineering or performance specs....I feel very fortunate to relearn drumming with this pedal..IMHO

    hope it helped
