    Default new heads

    so i just got new heads for my toms. but only top. do i need to get bottom heads? and if i do, do i need to get the same as the top? i have remo ambassador coated. i've never seen coated heads on the bottom. but this is the first time i've ever changed my heads. so i don't know what to do. so if you guys could help me that would be great.

    Well, you don't *have* to get bottom heads, but your drums will probably sound a lot better if you replace all the heads at the same time. After a while your heads stretch and don't resonate as well as they once did.

    Most places say that you should replace your heads every 3-6 months. I'm a bit lazier (poorer) myself, and only replace anything if it breaks.

    And again, you don't have to get the same as the top head. I don't think you'd need to use coated heads on the bottom.

    Just make sure you tune your toms correctly.
