nice looking and great sounding kit man
Decided it was time to trade in my Pacific X7 Poplar shell kit which was an awsome kit in both quality and sound. First had my eye on the Pacific X7 all Maple. Bought it and got it home. While changing the heads Checked the bearing edges all looked ok. Set the 8" on a glass table...wobble wobble, 10" same 12" same yikes starting looking things over and man has the quality slipped on the X7 maples! Loaded it back up and returned it for the Pearl VMX in red sparkle. The free tom offer made the deal. I already owned the Masters MCX 6X14 snare. This kit rocks. The finish is impecable! The quality of the shells and hardware is similar to the Masters MCX. Check the sound and look of this kit. The first thing you notice changing the heads is the quality of the shells. The bearing edges are perfection. No wobble here and they are beautiful inside and out! I changed the heads on the toms to EC2 SST's and G1's on the resonants. For the Bass batter I chose the Remo powersonic clear. What a dream Kit to tune! I received my free 8" tom in about three weeks after I sent in the coupon. I give it 9 out of 10 and that is only because of the ISS mounts which are not terrible but I will be upgrading to the optimounts soon. Check it out here. Good quality speakers or headphones recommended since the recording is of high quality. Just a short Sample of some fills around the toms... Enjoy!

The Rudiments
For recording I use Digital reference mics on the drums and 2 CAD condensors for overheads, and a Berringer mixer. Everything records into my computer and I use adobe sound booth or Mixcraft. I have a second computer monitor and mouse set up next to my drumset since my actual workstation lives on a desk across the room. My favorite pass time is recording songs on one track and then recording myself playing to it on another to see how close I can get. And I can mix the tracks so they blend perfectly when I get it right. The original song stays intact so I can do as many attempts as I want with each attempt on it's own track. With either software you can mix your recordings down into MP3's. I also use m-audio in ear monitors so I don't go deaf in the process but still hear myself at a comfortable volume.

great recording, and great kit. I recently at christmas got a pearl VMX also in arctic white, and im loving it. You said that the quality of shells and hardware on the VMX is similar to Masters MCX, and when I was at the store, the guy said that the VMX and the Masters MCX are basically the same lines, its just that the Masters MCX is made in America and the VMX in like india where its cheaper simply because its made there. So, Vision series is actually very comparable to Masters MCX

congrats man! they sound awesome! youve got those things tuned and mic'd up very nicely.
I am in the market for a new kit I played on a Slingerland set for over 20 years but had to sell for reasons. So now I'm shopping and not up on whats good or whats bad these days. I looked at these but when I saw a close up of the badge the words "Made In China" kinda scared me. I wonder how they will stand up over time?
Great sounding kit!
bustoff, there are some great kits coming out of Asia. Most are built in Chinese factories, and some in other countries. Yes, there are Chinese made beginner kits that are simply mass produced with cheap materials and sold to companies to be repackaged as their entry level kits, but there are also some quality kits being made. For instance, the Gretsch Catalina series kits are made in an Asian factory (not sure which country), but the quality that is being produced for Gretsch is excellent. I'm sure the question is how well a name brand company is willing to oversee the quality control on the sets produced, and it is apparent that they are doing well.
