I think there was supposed to be a link there.
    This is a ribbon crasher....

    To answer your question:
Use it sparingly. It's a special effects thing. You can play the "ands" on a medium tempo straight 8th thing. You can play a african groove on it like a mozambique or something. You can play quarter note triplets on it in a shuffle tune.

Use your imagination. Just keep it tasteful.

Looks pretty sweet. But yeah, as with all things effects related, not going over the top with it is the key.

yeah thats the one....thanks for the advice !
i use it sparingly anyway since it rips up your sticks if you don't hit it right!!

Yeah, I'm digging up an oldie...

Only because I'm ordering a 15" ribbon crasher today. :D

Wanna know where to use it? Listen to The Melvins.
Currently playing on my lead singer's kit, with some of my equipment mixed in:
Mapex Orion Birch 5-piece | Only notable cymbals are a 1970's 21" Avedis ride, a Zildjian A 14" thin crash, Wuhan 10" china, B8 Pro 13" thin crash... | Mapex single pedal, replaces a busted Iron Cobra | 14" piccolo snare
I spend more time playing it than studying it... more eqpt will be added soon enough, and maybe then I'll get more comprehensive specs.
WOULD RATHER HAVE: Dale Crover's kit

I was going to say that I'm probably influenced the most by his drumming
It makes a nice alternative to using a closed hi hat in a quarter note beat

Dom uses it in the second verse of Time Is Running Out
