Default My cracked UFIPs... is it me ?!?

OK - so now I'm the proud owner of two cracked UFIP Class Series crashes.

The 18 inch cracked some time ago (>3 yrs), so I chalked it up to poor technique or a faulty cymbal.

But... I discovered a small crack in the 17 a few days ago... and I'm not a happy camper.

Each one now has a small crack a few inches from the bell, nowhere near the edge. Both exhibit similar crack location / direction that go with circumference of the cymbal and not the radius.

Could this be a technique issue? My remaining eight (Paiste) crashes that have no cracks would say no... but I want some expert opinions since it would obviously be better to change my technique than lose more cymbals in the future. I believe these cymbals were approx 8 yrs old.

I don't clamp down on my cymbals. They definitely have room to wobble. I'm not the lightest hitter, but I don't consider myself a "basher".

    So what do YOU think?

If it was a manufactures flaw it would have shown up a long time ago.

Shame. Such beautiful sounding cymbals. I have a few UFIPS. I never use them for flat out rocking.

    all the best...
