    Default Electronic Drum set

I'm a beginner drummer who has moved on to college and am wanting to buy an electronic set for my apartment. I've never looked into buying them, hoping for some good advice, looking to spend $500 max. So far I've been recommended the OSP DD-502 electronic set.

    Anything helps

    Thanks guys

I'm in Australia so the currency will be different but something I recommend is a Yamaha DTXpress. I have one and it works well for me. I bought mine $1100 ($AU) 2nd hand. Electronic kits are great because you can practice heeps more...

    Welcome to Drum Chat kicksnarecrash!

I agree that if you keep an eye out for used e-kits, there are quite a few showing up as Christmas approaches. I think you could do better that the OSP kit, but then we don't know where you live, or what's available in your area. I bought a Simmons SD7K for my daughter and her family, and I thought it was a decent deal.

let me ask kicksnarecrash, do you have an existing acoustic drumset at the moment? cause i can walk you through how to convert it for less than 500.

no, this will be my first set ever. I just figured while in college, I'd by a practical piece of equipment that will let me learn and practice at my own pace. It seems a beginner electronic set is a bit more expensive than acoustic, but I guess that's what needs to be done. But again, that's why I'm here seeking advice.

i'd just look around what's available in your price range, list them here and then ask which one is the best snag. chances are someone here has already had experience with them. roland td-3 or td-6 gets my vote for sure.. when shopping things like how good the hi hat controller are, sensitivity in the pads, and the material used for heads mesh or rubber- these things you should consider well.

What is better over all by the way? Mesh or rubber pads? I have rubber and it still annoys people with the tapping sounds it makes
