I would have to say the best drummer has got to be either Neal Peart from Rush (great player and great lyric writer) or the drummer from the Mars Volta who is Jon Theodore (who recently left the band) although he is not well known, some of the fills and beats he plays i just can't get my mind around. Check him out. Neil Peart however is a proven drummer who is world-renowned. You've got to see his solo from their R30 tour (der trommler).

This is not a serious question is it ? Without a doubt, the best drummer to ever sit behind a kit is Buddy Rich. If you don't agree ...it's because you have not heard him play, and have been listening to a lot of guys that have simply been INFLUENCED by Buddy Rich...do your home work.

Tony Royster Jr. is very amazing, on his most famous solo he's only like 12 and he talks in this wee high pitched voice saying "im gonna do a drum solo for you now" then he sits behind this massive kit, and lays out this 7 minute intense solo, its so crazy i luved it, cuz ur not expecting someone of his size and age to be able to play so great, check it out
