im looking for pros and cons guys. do your sneakers or drum shoes or whatever you wear when you play have tread that really grips on the bottom, or do you like a slick feel?

just trying to find out some opinions and why, thanks.

Mine have tiny little bumps in a really tight tread pattern. See this:

I'm trying to improve my heel to toe technique but have not succeeded very well. I think my shoes have too much grip for a noob like me to master this technique right now. Maybe a pair of smooth soled Vans for me the Christmas and more practice could help.

Yeah, Chucks. Way better than my Docs.

I like grip on my shoes. When I play double bass, I don't like my feet slipping all over the pedals.

I like a little grip on my shoes, but not too much. I have a pair of old leather soled slip-on shoes that have a thin enough sole that I can feel the pedal well, and yet gives me just the right amount of grip, without too much.

Great idea Pastor Bob. I have a pair of well worn in thin leather soled shoes (bowling shoes) I'm going to try. Thanks

I don't pay that much attention to what I have on my feet whatever I'm wearing at the time, seems to work for me.

wow! everyone seems to be all over the place. i started this thread b/c i was having difficulty with the single pedal slide due to too much grip on my sneakers. i went to some airwalks i had with a slick flat sole, and then had issues switching to double kick, but the single slide was much easier... ok, i guess i got what i was asking for, thanks for the comments.

I like grip, therefore more often than not I will sport some type of skate shoe unless it is a dressey type situation.

it doesnt really matter what particular type of shoe it is. im guessing skate shoes are all pretty much flat and slick on the bottom.. i dono bout the adidas. but regardless of what kind of shoe it is, whether its flip flops, crocs, or chucks, the main questions here are:

does it grip or is it slick and why?

I play heel up most of the time, so I like the grip from my shoes. I found the Sketchers sneakers to be the best ones.

Definitely grip. How would you ever be able to control your foot if it was slipping?

I don't like playing in my socks because my feet go slipping all over the pedals, and with bare feet, my feet start sweating and it feels gross. Hence why I wear shoes when playing.
