    Default What are the differences,,,?

Hi every one, recently I am considering a maple snare.
Have a question about pearl masters maple snare.
There are three masters, MCX / MMP / MRP
Anyone know what are the differences and pros and cons of each snare?
    THX SO MUCH^^

The MMP is 14"x6.5" It is 4 ply maple with 4 ply maple reinforced rings.
The MRP is 14"x5.5". It is 6 ply of maple (no reinforced rings).
The MCX comes with different Tension Rods then the MMP and MRP but is also 6 ply maple and comes in both sizes above.
Life, like drumming, is only as good as you make it.

Mmp and Mrp also have more finishes as they are part of a slightly higher up line called Premiums. I think they might also offer their shells in birch as well but im not certain on that, but I do know these drums are special order so you'd have to get in touch with a licensed dealer to get accurate street prices and pick one up.

I use a 14x6.5 Pearl Masters Custom pretty regularly. The drum is about 10 years old so it doesn't have the same mcx/mmp/mrp model designation. I'm not positive how many plies it is but it definitely has reinforcing rings. It's maple and natural in color. It came with die cast hoops but I switched them out for some flanged ones. I feel that this helped open up the drum.

I love this drum. It has a lot of crack and depth to it. I'd recommend it to everyone. It's a perfect general use drum. They are also reasonably priced for how much drum you are getting.

I'll take a look at how many plies it is later and post a pic for reference.

I own a Pearl MMP in this size...love it. It has become one of my favorite snares to use live. Body, warmth, projection and tons of crack!

Alright, I did a little research on my snare and it's an MMX Masters Custom. It's 4 ply with 4 ply reinforcing rings. 14x6.5, as mentioned before. It has a serial # of 99 32. I think I got it in 2000 so it would make sense that it was made in 99'.

Even though I use it all the time, I haven't taken a close look at this drum for a long while apparently. I can't believe how beat up it is. The hardware is starting pit and the bottom rim is also pitting and has a ton of scratches It's probably been gigged close to 200 times now but I've always cased it and handled it nicely. It's an awesome drum though. Sounds perfect to me. Don't be fooled by the depth. This drum has awesome sensitivity, crack, and depth. I'd definitely recommend it. Note: the top rim is from my 72' Dynasonic.
