Re: Need Advice On Drum Restoration
I'd stay away from Urethane. It's basically plastic. Lacquer is organic and more suited to musical instruments....guitars, drums, violins....anything that resonates. As lacquer cures, it gets harder and the sound just keeps improving. Urethane tends to produce a "dull plastic" sound compared to lacquer. Organic materials are more pleasing to the human ear. Deft makes a great clear lacquer spray in cans that sprays nice and doesn't react negatively to other products.

Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!
"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
