Id get a nice ride. But then again I dont have any use for double bass.
alright im ready to head out the door and just wanted to throw this up to get some opinions. For christmas i received a new 18 aax xplosion fast crash and a thin 16 inch b8 crash and have the regular 14 in aax xplosion on the way. i really like my cymbals now that i have those 3 a b8 18 crash/ride. so now i got some money for christmas and im torn between getting a new ride because i still have the one that came with the set (crappy POS) or getting a double bass pedal. i can get either or and just wondering what you guys thought. i greatly appreciate it and please excuse my sentence structure/lack of punctuation/spelling im in a hurry :D. thanks again guys.
P.S. also could throw in the option of buying say an a custom crash or something. let me know what some of you guys would do. thanks

Go with the ride. If it's crappy, get a new one. Regardless of what else you need.

jweaves, tell us something about the styles that you like to play, and this will help with suggestions about rides, although I will say that the 20" Sabian AAX Stage Ride is a good all around ride. If you can, I would go to a music store that has a cymbal selection and listen to some of the different rides. Your own ears will tell you what is best for you, because it really is a matter of what sounds right to you. Then if you need to, you can find that cymbal used.

classic rock and id also like something thats crashable as well. im leaning towards the aax so go with my others. i listened to some youtube videos it sounds good. but if theres any other rides that are also decently crashable at that range let me know. yeah its classic rock and i play some newer stuff too but nothing like metal or anything that would require metal rides. thanks
If you want to stay with sabian, then the AAX 20" would be the way to go, but if you want to go with an other brand check out the zildjian sweet ride, or paiste 2002 20" classic ride.

RIP Frank.............thanks for being part of my journey
I just got a new Zildjian ZBT ride that sounds pretty good as a crash too. Fairly cheap if you can snag one used like I did. But if you need the double bass pedal I'd for that first. I couldn't imagine not having one...but I guess it depends on how much you use it.
get a better ride because you never wanna get a double pedal to soon

Definitely get the ride. I consider the snare, kick, hi hat and ride to be the 4 most important components of a drum kit. Get those up to par THEN look at accessories for your kit.
Kits
DW Performance(white marine): 8x7/10x8/12x9/16x14/22x18
Mapex Saturn III(transparent walnut): 10x8/12x9/16x16/22x18/14x5.5
Snares
Pork Pie 14x7 Cherry/Bubinga
Pork Pie 14x6.5 Big Black Bob
Mapex Saturn 14x5.5 Maple/Walnut
Homemade 14x5.5 Maple(10 ply Keller)
Cymbals
Sabian
14" AA regular hats
10" AAX splash
16" AAX Xplosion fast crash
18" AAX Xplosion fash crash
16" HH thin crash
20" HHX stage ride
I couldnt help but notice how you were keen on a 'crashable' ride.
Just make sure you dont ride the ride as you would the crash. Ride cymbals aren't designed for a regular crashing and so it doesnt take too much to crack your cymbal. If thats what you were after, i would have suggested for a nice crash/ride.
Just thought you should know.
